Trails in Fallen Leaf Lake - 18 1.9 mi 3.0 km 7Angora Ridge to Lookout Trail. This is the easiest flattest hiking trail. Most maps and apps will mention hiking from the Fallen Leaf campground. The road is narrow mainly enough for one vehicle with not alot of cutouts. Turn right on the pavement as it winds through the campground and you’ll see Moraine Trail sign on the right and enter this single track that travels along the creek’s edge. The lake is on Fallen Leaf Road off Route 89. Cautiously cross the highway and just behind the sign is a trail post for the single track that takes you Fallen Leaf Lake Campground. Continue on the bike path about ¼ mile with a look out for the brown US Forest Service Visitor Center sign on the other side of the highway. What to bring: Water shoes are perfect, but if you don't mind getting your tennis shoes wet, why not! Near the marina, so if you want to get something to eat you can almost walk to it, but if you decide to do a picnic make sure to bring a bag for trash so that you can come back and enjoy it over and over again, and "DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TRASH BEHIND” as Lake Tahoe is consider bear friendly area, so some of these friends may drop by (we didn't spot any during our visit). Fallen Leaf Campground, a part of the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, is located on National Forest lands and is an excellent place to. I recommend this as a spot for photo session as the rocks and waterfall are so soft and very easy to climb (no wheel chair access) and also large amount of flat surfaces to sit, stand and jump. Glen Alpine Falls, located "near" the Fallen Leaf Camping ground (about 4 miles from the entrance to the camping ground), it's a beautiful and peaceful area to just relax and enjoy nature.
